Assistant Nursery Manager

Our Nursery Shed is often the highlight of a visit. We're looking for a warm, capable Assistant Nursery Manager to back up our Nursery Manager, lead visitor interactions with the baby animals, and take charge when she's away.

What you'll do
- Lead visitor handling sessions: welcome families, teach kids to hold animals gently, and keep every encounter safe
- Share animal facts and answer visitors' questions
- Protect the animals from stress or overhandling
- Support the daily running of the Nursery Shed: set-up and pack-down, cleaning, disinfecting and water-blasting pens
- Do daily health and welfare checks, spotting unwell animals early
- Follow infection control and hygiene practices
- Keep records and help order supplies
- Cover shifts and lead the shed when the Nursery Manager is away
About you
- Friendly, patient and engaging with children and families
- Hands-on small-animal experience (rabbits, guinea pigs, rats or similar)
- Calm, observant and reliable
- Available some weekends and school holidays
- Full NZ work rights, and happy to complete Police vetting
- Bonus: early childhood, teaching, vet nursing or animal care background; first aid certificate

Casual Farm Hand (Operations & Maintenance)
Keep the farm running behind the scenes.
We're looking for casual farm hands to support our Lead Farmer with the day-to-day operations, maintenance and care of the farm.
This is a practical, hands-on role. You'll be outdoors, on your feet and busy, and you won't spend your shifts handling visitors.

What you'll do
- Help set up the farm each day
- Feed and water large animals and keep an eye on their health, reporting concerns promptly
- Keep paddocks, fencing, gates and pathways in good order
- Do routine grounds work: leaf blowing, tidying and general site upkeep
- Help with paddock rotation and stock movements
- Take care of rubbish and recycling collection
- Help with simple maintenance jobs around the property
- Operate farm equipment such as tractors, the Polaris and trailers, with training, and carry out daily checks
- Help restock and order consumables as needed
- Follow health and safety procedures and spot hazards early
About you
- Reliable, hard-working and happy outdoors in all weather
- Practical and handy: comfortable with tools and equipment, or keen to learn
- Comfortable around large animals, or willing to be trained
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Full NZ work rights, and happy to complete Police vetting
- Bonus: tractor or machinery experience, farm or agricultural background, or a first aid certificate

Casual Event Coordinator (Summer)
Teachers, relievers and early childhood educators: spend your summer break on a farm.
Kiwi Valley is busiest in the school holidays. We need casual team members to run our group bookings, including birthday parties and holiday groups.

What you'll do
- Welcome groups, explain the plan for the day and set expectations
- Lead groups around the farm, rotating them through activities
- Keep children together, safe and engaged
- Set up and present the barn and party space
- Chat with parents and organisers about what they need
- Count attendees and take payments
About you
- Confident speaking to groups of children and adults
- Experience with kids: teaching, relief teaching, early childhood, student teaching, youth work or similar
- Friendly, organised and good under pressure
- Available over the summer holidays, including weekends
- Full NZ work rights, and happy to complete Police vetting
- Bonus: first aid certificate

Casual Reception Relief
Be the first friendly face our visitors see.
We need casual team members to cover Reception, welcoming visitors and keeping the front desk running, especially on busy days and in the school holidays.

- Greet visitors and explain what's on offer at the farm
- Sell tickets using our POS system, including cash and EFTPOS
- Answer the phone and general enquiries
- Cover reception breaks and busy periods
- Resolve queries and complaints calmly
About you
- Friendly, organised and good under pressure
- Comfortable with a till and technology, or quick to learn (training provided)
- Available for some weekends and school holidays
- Full NZ work rights, and happy to complete Police vetting
- Bonus: hospitality or retail experience, or a first aid certificate
